My wife and I are going to San Diego for 3-4 days soon. I'm wondering what we should do. I used to live in san Diego twenty years ago, but never did the tourist thing, I lived in the bushes in balboa park while massively strung out on dope- had to escape with my life.
I think I would like to see the good side, 12th Av side, of Balboa park and the museums, and the Zoo. I want to go to the beach. But I don't know where to spend the other couple days. I want to get a decent hotel where I don't have to pay out my ass- we're just working stiffs, not rich. San Diego should be fun without an evil monkey on my back, but it sure is gonna bring back hella tough memories.
What else do you think we should do?
oh yeah what about point loma, that'd be nice. what's in coranodo?

Coronado is a cute little tourist town. Really pretty with some good restaurants but kinda pricey. You could stroll around downtown...thats changed a lot in the past decade or so. Also there is Sunset cliffs and La Jolla which are beautiful. There are some great spots in South Park and North Park and not to expensive either. And of corse there is always Ocean Beach with is so amazing and full of awesome people! If you want more specific places shoot me a message I'd be happy to help ya scope out some spots

    Peace and love

I think you'll be amazed at how much SD has changed. Downtown is a big cash trap now and expensive.
OB is fun...Normal Heights, North Park are fun to look around...sight seeing is free and Del Mar is nice to check out and
Coronado...Are you bringing your dog ? There are 26 dog parks in SD now... OB beach and Del Mar are dog beaches...
Wild Animal Park in North County is cool, it's huge and more of a natural setting for the animals....

Let by gones be by gones, try not to dwell...on the past.

Hope you enjoy your stay !!!

I don't know yet, early february maybe.I've got a partial list of things we want to see.
the Zoo & museums at balboa
          Old town, maybe presidio park
Broadway peir, maritime museums, ferry to coronado
          G st. pier
          Point Loma
          The Rueben E Lee restaraunt
          possibly tijuana
Is tijuana safe these days? I've been hearing alot of bad things about Mexico the last few years, just lots of narcero violence. Crazy shit. I don't want to bring my wife into something like that.

I would not hit TJ these days. Too many people getting murdered and kidnapped.
Personally I love the Gaslamp although it's very touristy and expensive.
The zoo has had a lot of improvements and it nicer than ever.
I adore Old Town and we go there as often as we can.
Little Italy has been much improved since you lived here and has some
good restaurants, although Filippi's is still an reasonable favorite for us.
I would venture down to walk the OB pier and check-out OB. I like the
small beach community feel of it. Also Maritime Museum and Star of
India + a harbor cruise can be fun.

Hello I know the perfect hotel spot for you if its still there, it's on Morena Blvd. across the street from the Shell station, its been a few years since I stayed there; warning the beds weren't to good, kind of cheap but who cares when your having fun. and the sports arena area has some very affordable motels if you look around. Good Luck and stay out of trouble.I also recommend Old Town for some excellent mexican food. C-Ya, Leanne
